About Boycott Bloody Insurance
Boycott Bloody Insurance is a campaign targeting insurance companies that invest in and underwrite the Israeli genocidal project in Palestine, fossil fuels, weapons, and the border detention industry.
Through public pressure and grassroots organisation, we aim to pressure insurers to cut their ties and disrupt the financial lifelines that sustain these destructive industries.

Why insurance?
Insurance is integral to a financial system designed to endlessly extract and exploit, and it offers us a critical point of vulnerability. Without insurance, complicit companies – like Elbit, BP, Maersk, and Serco – would be unable to operate. This makes insurance a key target for campaigners fighting for justice.
Insurers have historically accepted demands when faced with strong enough campaigns – like 40 insurers ruling out Adani’s Carmicheal coal mines in Australia, 29 insurers ruling out EACOP and many more ruling out and stalling similar controversial projects.
It is the same insurance companies underwriting and investing in fossil fuels, weapons, and the hostile environment. Insurance offers us a lever on these destructive companies. Insurance campaigning has worked against fossil fuels – now let’s leverage it against arms and detention industries too.
Joint struggle across movements
That it is the same handful of insurers – like AIG, AXA, Aviva, and Allianz – insuring and investing in the key companies driving the destruction of our planet, the Israeli genocidal project in Palestine, and migrant detention in Britain is no coincidence.
From the use of Israeli surveillance technology at borders around the world to Israel’s crucial role in facilitating the flow of fossil fuels from the Arab region to the Global North, the connections between our struggles are many. We must unite in our collective struggle for liberation.
By bringing together movements for Palestinian liberation, migrant justice, and climate justice, we can build a powerful movement able to pressure our day-to-day institutions across Britain – including charities, trade unions, councils, and cultural institutions – to boycott bloody insurers and switch to more ethical options.
Together we can win
Schools, charities, unions, and faith groups should reflect their members’ values, including through the insurers they choose. We must not allow our local institutions to contribute to the profits of insurers underwriting death and destruction.
By organising local campaigns to get our local institutions to boycott bloody insurers and switch to more ethical options, we can pressure insurers to cut ties with deadly industries.
